Game 1 roundup - Pens 4, Flyers 2

The Penguins have now made it 9 wins in 10 playoff games, and 6 of 6 at the Igloo, with a 4-2 beating of the Philadelphia Flyers. Pens goals scored by Malkin (2)m Crosby and Sykora.

All in all a very nice effort by the Pens, with the exception of the first ten minutes of the game, and a completely lackluster effort by the Flyers, again with the exception of the first ten minutes of the game. I do realize that Philadelphia has lost the first game of each series so far , and has managed to still make it to the Conference Finals, but if last night was the most effort they could put forth then it will be a very short series for the former Broad Street Bullies.

Now, being a pretty realistic guy, I will make the assumption that they were just not ready for the type of physical game that they got from the Penguins. And if this is the case then it will be a very different type of game tomorrow night for game 2. But the question that must be asked is this: Is there anyone that has any hockey sense whatsoever that truly believes the Flyers can beat the Pens in a run-and-gun type of game? The type of game that they got suckered into playing last night?

#1 star of the night goes to Evgeni Malkin. He was a force to be reckoned with again last night. Keep up the solid work Geno!
